Moo Aaa 無我 anātman

‘나’라는 고정된 실체나 영원한 자아가 없다는 뜻의 불교 교리.
만물은 끊임없이 변화하는 인연의 산물일 뿐, 독립적 형태의 영원한 것은 없다는 의미를 담고 있다.

본질이란 존재할까? 존재한다면 그것을 담고 싶다.

서을을 기반으로 활동하는 사진작가 무아는 본질이 존재한다면 그것은 정립적인 방식이 아닌 비정립적 방식으로써 드러낼 수 있다고 이야기한다. 그렇기에 그는 우연을 매개체로 현상을 포착하여 대상의 본질을 담고자 하며 무의식에 기대어 작업하는 방식을 택하였다.
이를 통해 피상의 이면에서 드러나는 내면의 사유와 존재의 흔적을 탐구한다.
사라지는 순간과 남겨진 흔적, 존재와 비존재의 경계에서 그는 상(image)으로 고요히 사유한다.
그는 서브컬처 씬 안에서 생활하며 그 흐름과 긴밀히 연결되어 있으며, 상업과 예술의 경계를 넘나드는 자신만의 강한 색채를 지닌 작업을 이어오고 있다.

It holds that all things arise from ever-changing causes and conditions, and that nothing exists as an independent, everlasting entity.

Does essence exist? If it does, I want to capture it.

Based in Seoul, the photographer Moo Aaa believes that if essence exists, it can be revealed not through a fixed, definitive approach but through an indeterminate one. Working with chance as a mediator, Moo Aaa seeks to capture phenomena in order to embody the essence of the subject, choosing a process that leans on the unconscious.
Living within and closely connected to the subculture scene, the artist continues to develop a practice with a strong personal tone that moves back and forth between commercial work and art.
